One year ago....

A year ago today we took delivery of our things and finally were able to settle into our house. I can't believe how quickly the year has flown. We have been reminded of the anniversary by the many renewal notices we've received: home and auto insurance, health club memberships, and association dues renewal. Arroyo Grande has been a great new home for us and here are a few pictures of our town. This is the swinging footbridge over the Arroyo Grande. It was rebuilt in 1995 after the original bridge was destroyed in a storm.

The downtown area has a real western feel to it. There are many independent store fronts. Like West Hartford center there are many restaurants and hair salons. There is a bandstand sponsored by the local Rotary club just behind the center.

This is the Halcyon Temple In Arroyo Grande California. The beautiful and interesting "Halcyon Temple for the People" was built in 1923-1925 for a small local religious sect. It is also known as the "Blue Star Memorial Temple". Dimensions of the building are based on the numbers 7, 3, 4 and 12 (3+4=7, 3x4=12). There are 3 sides. Inside dimensions of the rounded-triangle building are 49 feet across (=7x7). The temple still holds services today.
