It was warm (not as warm as the last 2 days) in the mid to upper 60s. One of those days to fill up the car (4th fill up since I bought the car) and nearly 50 mpg! The car only holds about 11 gallons of gas so I can go nearly 500 miles on a tank of gas. I have indeed changed driving habits - it's amazing how poor mileage one gets if one pours it on at stop lights etc. Then things got messy. The gas pump we used didn't shut off when the tank was full so it spilled out onto the ground - yikes - what a waste. So of course I had to take the new car in to get washed because the smell of gasoline is really noxious. Car washes are pretty expensive around here because water is so expensive. This place was a combination automatic and hand wash place. The car goes through an automatic wash but then all the drying is done by hand. The car wiping people swarm all over the car with chamois cloths and windex bottles and wipe the car dry and clean windows etc by hand. The little car shined and sparkled and no longer smelled of gas.
When we returned, we went for a walk around the neighborhood. We noticed a small plane circling around overhead and then 2 helicopters buzzing around. We started hypothesizing about what was happening - car chase, flying lessons....then a car stopped us and asked us to keep an eye out for an 81 year old man with advanced alzheimers who was last seen on the 13th green of our golf course. Many people in the neighborhood came out to search. At 5:30, he was found just down the street, outside of our development. A family had taken him in and called 911. He was in good condition, but very confused. There was a broadcast message to all the houses in our development that he was found. Yay! Good thing he was found before dark. Although it gets warm during the day, the temps do drop into the 40s at night.
