Christine, one of A Hand Up's board members, organized a mammoth delivery schedule for this past Saturday. She lined up 4 deliveries for one day. She and a colleague of hers spent part of Friday afternoon getting household furniture sorted and staged for packing the truck on Saturday. She had 2 teams - one for the morning and one for the afternoon. Fortunately she had enough members on each team as there were volunteer snafu's on both teams. In between deliveries one of the groups also managed to squeeze in a pick-up. They were able to leave those items on the truck and deliver them for the afternoon deliveries. The new truck was jam packed for both shifts. What an accomplishment!
I have done 3 deliveries on one day but never 4. I can tell you this really took a lot of organization, dedication, sweat and tears. There were 4 very happy clients who were delighted with their new homes. Most of the clients were living with very little until Christine and the volunteers showed up.
