Cousins P and S invited us to sit at their table at the Pops concert at the Avila Golf Club yesterday. There were over 3500 people there and the program was all music from the 60s. The program included tunes from the Beatles, the Association, Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears ....you get the picture.
The cousins and a couple of their friends had purchased tables side by side. The other table made arrangements for their own portapotties near their table with special passes required to use them and special "ushers" keeping it private!
The cousins and many others at the concert arrived in 60s garb. There were rose colored eyeglasses and peace symbol necklaces for everyone. Our area was the "champagne" area - I think meaning it was closer to the stage and our table was right next to the shore. The weather was perfect - in the 70s (felt warmer as we were in the sun most of the time). With hats and plenty of sunscreen we had a perfect setting. Everyone brought part of the picnic, champagne was provided and wine and beer could be purchased. We even found ourselves in the mob picture (a little like "where's Waldo") but you had to know where we were sitting and what we were wearing :)! It was one of the more enjoyable Labor Day pops concerts since we've been here.
