On my walk this morning I was enjoying the ethnic diversity of this neighborhood. There were many Iraqi immigrants who moved to this area soon after the start of the war. Many of them have done pretty well transferring their skills in Iraq to work here (these were the wealthier Iraqis who immigrated first). There are a number of restaurants for that population in the neighborhood.
There was this really neat middle eastern/Mexican place that struck my fancy. This area has so many cross cultural stores some with many in the same shop not just on the same block.
This block of stores was typical of the diveristy.
The area I was walking in is called Albany Park is primarily known as Koreatown but from my observation it also could be Mexicotown, Iraqi town, and a few more thrown in for good measure.
