Family news

My nephew, T is engaged to D. They are planning a November wedding in Texas! Hooray! My cousin's son, K, graduated from medical school in Ireland. His immediate family attended the graduation festivities, which lasted a week. A group of his friends from high school also flew over to participate in the festivities. He's here for a couple of weeks before returning to start an internship in Ireland for the next year.

The weather across the country is still pretty grim with heavy rains causing massive flooding in the midwest from overflowing rivers; the first heat wave of the "summer" season" in the northeast with temps in the high 90s! The micro-climates around here have similar temps further north in Paso but very low humidity. It's pretty mild here with temps on the shore in the high 60s and low 70s. We went for a long walk at the beach today and stopped at the Splash Cafe for a bowl of chowder. They have the distinction of being judged the best chowder on the central coast. http://www.splashcafe.com/index.html. We ate it at a picnic table overlooking the beach next to the Pismo pier. Some schools are out but most get out this Friday. Then they say it will be very crowded in Pismo.
