The PCPA - Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts - is the theatre at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria. http://www.pcpa.org/Default.asp?Page=50. Allan Hancock is a community college (2 year program) with over 12,000 students and feeds into the Cal State and Cal University system. They have a conservatory which offers a 2 year internship program with about 100 students. It has a resident professional theatre group and has a production running almost all the time. They also have a summer outdoor theatre in Solvang that does a number of performance throughout the summer.
Friends gave us a couple of comp tickets to see "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe". They've made it into a musical and there were lots of shades of "Lion King" in the costuming. The music was catchy and the acting and sets were great. At the Saturday matinee there were many children and they were swept away throughout the show.
