Instant hot water!

Oh, all right, almost instant hot water! T's bathroom is in the farthest place in the house from the water heater. It takes almost 3 minutes for the hot water to get from the water heater to his shower. That's a lot of wasted water. In my bathroom it takes less time especially if he's just taken a shower, but if not, it still takes about 1 1/2 minutes. I collect the water in a bucket and use the water for the plants. T would have to fill multiple buckets so we've been wasting much very precious water. The guy who came to give us a quote on solar panels told us about a water recirculation pump that gives instant hot water with your regular water heater. After some research we contracted with a plumber and an electrician and had one installed in T's bathroom. It's pretty amazing. We had the outlet installed under the sink and then the plumber mounted and hooked up the pump. It keeps the water in the pipes at a temperature you set. If the temperature falls below that the pump sends the water back to the water heater and pumps hot water through the pipes. You can set it on a timer to go on and off at different times. It is totally quiet. I discovered later that if I had known what kind of a pump to get I could order it on line for a lot less than the plumber charged and just had him install it. Live and learn.
