This morning we experience the first measurable rain since April although it was pretty meager. Various towns received between .1 to .2 of an inch. Because we are in a drought, any prospect of rain is hailed with great excitement. T painted the exterior door frames in the back of the house. He wanted to do it before the rain. When we had the door leaks repaired last spring we had a tarp taped up over one of the doors to prevent the water from coming in during the rainy season. Then when they tested the door for leaks they used more tape to hold up more tarps. The tape pulled off some of the paint on the moldings around the doors. He did an excellent job.
It really smelled fresh after the rain. It's amazing what washes off houses and other structures when it hasn't rained for 6 months. The run off was pretty dirty. The roads were rather slick and the snails were out in full force. There were ribbons of snails trying to cross the roads all around the neighborhood. The rain was the talk of the neighborhood with most everyone thrilled to see it.
