We have so much wildlife all around us: buffalo, cows, steer, horses, goats, sheep, quail, ducks, buffle heads, coots, jack rabbits and regular bunnies, wild turkeys, donkeys, peacocks, llamas, alpaca, tortoises, bull frogs, all kinds of birds and other water fowl, and of course emus and ostriches - doesn't everyone have emus and ostriches living around them?
On the way to Solvang there is an Emu and Ostrich farm where you can have a tour and feed the ostriches and emus. Let me tell you they are an aggressive bunch. You get a couple of dustpans full of feed and you hold onto the dustpan for dear life and hold the pan out over the fence. The ostriches come right up and in a matter of seconds they rat-tat-tat that food clean off the plate.
