Cypress tree clean-up

Today the tree cutting people arrived to start cutting down the damaged part of the tree in the green space behind our house. It is the anchor tree in a large stand of trees planted by the original owners of the land along the ridge of the mesa, giving the name, Cypress Ridge to the development. It's a pretty impressive line of trees! The trees run about a mile across the ridge.

At the beginning there were a few branches left on the tree but they cut most of that down and still have a lot of work left to cut down the trunk and cut up all the wood on the ground.

The super bowl/mardi gras party at the fitness center was a huge success with many people coming in "real" costumes - mardi gras style. Very impressive. There was a ton of food and the chocolate almond biscotti (healthy version) were well received judging by the requests for the recipe which I got off the internet.

The crew came to repair the door in my bedroom that leaked big time in the last few storms. They started with a conservative fix, repairing all the weather-stripping around the door and making sure there are no gaps anywhere around it. We'll see how that works in the next storm - around here that may be weeks or months from now.

My walk was delayed again today due to the work crew and getting a haircut so I was walking at sunset again. Here's the view as I came home tonight right in front of our house looking toward the ocean.
