July 4 was a busy day for us. We had a number of places to go - two in the neighborhood and one at cousin P and S. We managed to attend one of the neighborhood picnics - a July 4, birthday party and retirement party all in one. The hosts are both musicians and play in a bluegrass band. There was a pick-up band playing all afternoon. Then we went onto P and S with more than 200 of their friends and neighbors. They borrowed a Santa Maria grill from a local restaurant and cooked up 31 tri-tip roasts, many pounds of chicken, hamburgers and hotdogs. They had Zoo to You come with many interesting animals including a marmoset, a lemur, porcupine, python snake (see picture), an armadillo, a red hawk and a number of others. The children had a ball petting all the animals. Great fun was had by all.
