Festival Mosaic

Thursday T and I went up to SLO and had dinner at a noodle restaurant we've been meaning to try for quite a while. Not an Asian in the restaurant (except me of course) but the noodles were surprisingly good. It's a "Mongolian Wok" type of place where you pick your noodle and then select the toppings you want and the sauce you want. They also had specials and a couple of appetizers and a couple of desserts. Pretty inexpensive and quick. We then walked around the Farmers' market which has expanded down another block. It's one of the biggest Farmers' markets in California and that's saying something. We then headed up to the new Cuesta College Performing Arts Center. It holds about 300 people and is a beautiful intimate but not too small performance space. The Festival Mosaic (formerly known as the Mozart Festival)http://www.festivalmozaic.com/ held a Chamber series that night with 3 pieces: Mozart's Piano Quartet in E flat k493 _ with violin, viola and Cello Strauss -Violin Sonata in E flat Op 18 with piano and violin Tchiakovsky - Souvenir de Florence - a sextet with 2 violins, 2 violas and 2 cellos The performers for the festival come from all over the country and world. It goes for just under 2 weeks and has been going on for 41 years. It changed it name to Festival Mosaic from the Mozart Festival to try to appeal to a broader audience. The venue we went to was pretty full and there was a spattering of non-blue haired people in the audience - so hopefully it's working.
