Queen Liz II's Diamond Jubilee

The news has been all atwitter with news of the celebration of Queen Elizabeth's 60 years on the throne. If she inherited her mother's longevity Prince Charles may have another 20 years to await his ascending the throne. My mother was a real anglophile and she would have been really glued to all the coverage of this event. My mother's children - that would include me of course, were born around the same time as the queen's and my mother tracked the progress of the queen's children alongside her own. She knew the details of the royal family and of course having been educated in a British school system, first in Jamaica and then in the UK she knew lots of British history including the order of the wives of Henry VIII. I found myself thinking about my mother as I watched some of the coverage this weekend.
