Today we went to the open house for the greenhouse growers on the mesa. There a many very large greenhouse growers on the mesa. Once a year for the past 8 years they have opened up their doors and given tours and lectures and sell directly to the public for the day. We visited 5 of them today - All Seasons Flowers - specializing in cut flowers, bulbs and assorted greens; Zeland Growers specializing in fresh cut bouquets and Phormum plants; Ocean Breeze which specializes in calla lillies - they had so many different colors and I've only seen white ones before; Koch California - fresh cut rose bouquets; and Eufloria Flowers specializing in Hydroponically grown roses and fresh cut bouquets.

This bouquet of flowers was on the vanity in the ladies room at one of the greenhouses. Eufloria flowers was the most interesting. They grow their flowers in coconut fibers from Sri Lanka. They have a web business Rosique where you can order bouquets on line of fresh cut roses and they are sent out next day delivery. These roses are so fresh they will last nearly 2 weeks!
One of my new friends added her house to the greenhouse tours. We stopped on our way and it was a good thing. She and her husband have planted the most amazing garden on their 1/2 acre lot and it was almost in full bloom. Most impressive!
What a great afternoon.
