Reminiscing
Yesterday we went to Solvang to meet a friend who went to high school with T low these many years ago! She and her husband live in the Portland area. They were in Anaheim for a conference. Friend S was in our wedding party. She must have met her husband right after our wedding and they got married 6 months later. We had a great time catching up. The drive for her from Anaheim ended up taking her nearly 5 hours. So we invited her to come to our place for the night. We had a great evening catching up further. I tried a new recipe for a single serving lava cake from the Sunset magazine. http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/single-girl-melty-chocolate-cake-50400000119102/?fb_ref=fb-like&fb_source=home_multiline. I just made 3 single servings. Used the bourbon in place of the peanut butter. It was really tasty. In the morning S and I went to the gym and took 2 classes. I introduced her to rebounding and she loved it. We also took a stretch class which would hold her in good stead for her drive back this morning to Anaheim. S called to say she got back in 4 hours from our place and only slowed down going through LA.

Great visit with friends from CT
J and D came for a 4 day visit. We squeezed in as much as we could in the four days while getting in 6 mile walks and hour long spin classes every day. We went up to the Hearst Castle and stopped into Morro Bay.
We spent an afternoon in San Luis Obispo touring the San Luis Obispo County Historical Society museum.http://www.slochs.org/ and the San Luis Obispo art center

Visit from Su
Cousin Su came to spend the weekend with us. Cousin P is heli skiing in Canada for the week with their daughter. Their house is in the middle of renovations. They rented the same house in Los Osos that we rented 4 years ago when we first started to visit the area before we decided to move here!
Su and I have had a great time walking, talking, exercising and visiting. Great fun!

Back to the routine
D and R came, saw and went! We had a great visit with them. They arrived Monday evening in time for dessert. I had made a half cake each of a sour cream mocha chocolate cake and carrot cake plus a pumpkin bread for breakfasts. We stayed up and caught up with each other Monday evening. Tuesday was a full morning of exercise. D & R braved the fitness center and took both the B-fit class (aerobics on a mini trampoline) plus my T'ai Chi class. They did exceptionally well in both. We then went for a 5 mile walk. After a tasty lunch of wrap sandwiches, we took off for San Luis Obispo and the mission. We took the long way to SLO traveling over See Canyon Road to see the beautiful vistas from the mountain top of the SLO valley and the coastline from Montano de Oro to Guadalupe. Although the mission was closed we were able to check out the grounds, the gardens and the gift shop. We strolled about the center of town before heading off to Morro Bay. After a brief walk around the center of town we went to dinner at the Great American Fish Company for a terrific meal. Thank you D&R! On Wednesday after a spinning class at the fitness center, we headed off for the beach and visited the monarch butterfly grove. The butterflies are beginning to return. We returned via the beach and visited the St. Barnabas Thrift shop, then off for a quick tour of Arroyo Grande and lunch at the Rock and Roll Diner. We had a great visit - all too fast, but lots of fun.

Waiting for company
It's another beautiful day in central California. We are eagerly awaiting D and R's arrival. They called to say they would be here in time for dessert but not dinner. They called around 2:30 from Santa Ana and were being re-routed due to the fires in the LA area. We expect them around 7. Can't wait!

Expecting company
My sister, P and her husband, K are coming to visit from Sunday afternoon through Wednesday morning. They are dropping off younger son, E, at Claremont College in LA and driving up to AG. We are having P&S& Aunt L plus companion for lunch on Monday. They are heading to Idaho later in the evening so the only time they overlap with P&K is Monday for lunch. We are looking forward to having visitors. Should be a good time!

Visit from Susan
I have 4 locations bookmarked for weather reports on my homepage: AG, CHG, WLFT and WH. At noon it showed all four locations had the same temperature at 74 degrees and predicted lows tonight all within 5 degrees of each other! Our house is always about 6 to 10 degrees cooler than it is in the downtown, but it was a wonderful confluence of temperatures.
We had a great visit with Susan yesterday. She made it in good time from LAX and came up coastal route 1 through Santa Monica to Oxnard and avoided some of the LA traffic that way. She drives a Prius too, so we had 3 of them at our house for the night! T and she had a great 40th high school reunion of their own, reminiscing about days gone by. After she arrived and settled in, we went to the beach for a walk. She and her husband had stayed in Pismo many years ago. We walked down to the pier from Grover Beach but things have changed so much that the place they stayed either isn't recognizable or isn't there anymore. We then drove up to Morro Bay and had dinner at one of our favorite restuarants - the Great American Fish Company right on the Morro Bay estuary. We then drove down to Morro Rock and had a chilly walk as far as one can walk around the Rock. When we returned we stopped in AG center and strolled around hunting for the chickens but they were nowhere to be seen.

Visitor
Today we are expecting Susan, T's friend from 9th grade! She is driving back to Oregon after a round trip journey from Portland to Colorado, to bury her mother-in-law's ashes next to her father-in-law. She and her husband took a 2 week trip and drove from Portland to Colorado then onto San Diego, visiting friends and relatives along the way. She is dropping off her husband in LA. He is flying to Atlanta for a meeting. She's driving the rest of the way from LA to Portland on her own - very brave. She's stopping in to visit us for the night. We're very excited to see her after many, many years. I think the last time we saw each other was nearly 25 years ago.
